Restaurant Description

The Golden Unicorn is Panama’s most elegant Chinese restaurant and by far the most consistently good.  The restaurant is enormous, with the main dining room seating at least 150 diners, and then there are several private rooms.  There are always plenty of Chinese people eating here, which is a great sign.  Spotlessly clean, the restaurant inspires a confidence in the diner that is not always present in every Chinese restaurant in Panama.  The menu is extensive, featuring everything you would expect to see on a Chinese restaurant’s menu, along with some specialties which include the hot pepper calamari, stuffed with shrimp.  Portions are large, so while this is a little more expensive than most other Chinese eateries in Panama, you can more than likely share and you will probably have plenty of leftovers to take home with you.

One of the best times to come to the Golden Unicorn is for Chinese breakfast on the weekend, when mountains of Dim Sum are served to the table via small trolleys.  Try the ham pao, a strange puffball of bread stuffed with a sweet and sour pork mixture and the ha kao, steamed dumplings stuffed with shrimp – light and delicious!
